When Barnstable and Marshfield met in the regular season, the Red Raiders stormed back with 22 points in the second half for a comeback victory. There was less drama in the second matchup Friday night, thanks in part to four touchdowns by Hayden Murphy, as No. 6 Barnstable jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, beating the visiting Rams, 48-29, in a Division 2 South quarterfinal game.
The second-seeded Red Raiders (7-1) move on in the playoffs and will host a semifinal game next week. Marshfield (4-4) is knocked to the Division 2 South losers bracket.
On a gusty evening, Murphy led the Barnstable running attack, gaining 209 yards on the ground along with three rushing touchdowns.
