Natick celebrated Friday night, beating Needham, 28-14, in a non-playoff game behind quarterback Troy Flutie, who had three touchdown passes to break the state’s all-time career record.
His second touchdown pass gave Flutie 104, one better than former Everett quarterback Jonathan DiBiaso had during his career. Flutie now has 40 TD passes on the year and 105 for his career.
Last week, Flutie and the Redhawks lost to Barnstable in the Division 2 South semifinals and Flutie had just one touchdown pass, leaving him one shy of the record. But against Needham it was a different story. A first-quarter pass to Alex Hilger put Natick up, 7-0, and tied DiBiaso’s mark. Moments later, Flutie hit Hilger again, his 104th career touchdown pass.
