No. 2 Everett trampled Fitchburg last night, 49-21, with a well-balanced attack that brings the Crimson Tide's record to 2-0.
The Crimson Tide opened with a 21-point first quarter, starting with a 39-yard scoring run by Nick Parker and the first of seven Igor Garcia PATs.
Isaac Johnson would continue what Parker started on the ground with a 6-yard score. Since Fitchburg's offense was stymied by the Tide, Everett's offense continued to find ways to rough up Fitchburg's defense. Quarterback J.R. Suozzo lofted a 41 yard pass that found receiver Jesus Crawford for their last score of the first quarter.
Everett continued the onslaught with three rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. J.W. Forty pushed his way inside the end zone for a 1-yard run, followed by a Nick Brown 2-yard run, and finally Johnson's second rushing TD, this time a 57-yarder.
The third quarter belonged to Fitchburg, this time holding strong on defense, and scoring 14 points. John Gomez's two touchdown runs tallied 106 yards, and with two PAT kicks by Juan Colozo, put the score at 42-14.
Fitchburg was able to score first in the fourth on a David Mendez 52-yard rush. Everett brushed aside any thoughts of a comeback with their final score of the night, a Chris Leaston 60-yard run.
Woburn 20, Billerica 12 -- Ryan Silvonic scored 18 to lead the Tanners. Silvonic ran in for a 3-yard touchdown in the first, and widened the lead with a 17-yard touchdown in the third. To solidify the win, Silvonic ran in for his third touchdown of the game, this time a 3-yarder.
Lincoln-Sudbury 15, Rockland 14 -- Justin Nicholson came up huge, ending the possibility of overtime by blocking the extra point kick after a touchdown pass to Terrence Ball from Rich Gilbert.
South Coast:Seekonk 26, Fairhaven 16 -- Josh Roza rushed for 11-yard touchdown then passed a 47-yarder to Chris Hanoian for the victors. Hanoian, who was responsible for 20 of the 26 points, scored twice on runs in the second and third quarters. Fairhaven received touchdown runs by Armand Pimental and QB Nick Motta.
Nonleague:Amesbury 26, Lawrence 6 -- Dominant through the game, Amesbury used Marion Wilder and Joe Klufts to bust through Lawrence's defense for two touchdowns each. Wilder totaled 114 yards rushing on the night. Lawrence struggled offensively until the fourth quarter, until William Carrasco ran nine yards for their only score.
Trinity Catholic 28, Watertown 12 -- A well balanced offense beat Watertown, with two rushing touchdowns from Moses Yiga and Yvans Cator, a 97 yard interception return by Yvans Cator, and a passing touchdown from Ryan Potoloski to James Naddaff.
Martha's Vineyard 44, Carver 25 -- The Vineyarders beat up on Carver, with David Amabile rushing for 124 yards and a touchdown. Another vital contributor on the ground was Josh Paulson who had 73 yards and two touchdowns.
Millis 25, Marion 7 -- Senior Captain Kyle Geary had two touchdowns with 92 yards on 17 carries. Goia had 79 yards and went 5 for 9 on passing with a touchdown pass.
East Boston 31, Latin Academy 0 -- East Boston tallied 350 yards in a shutout over Latin Academy last night. Frank Brown ran in a 19-yard touchdown in the second, followed by an O'Neil rush. Brown got his second touchdown of the night in the third on a 68-yard run.
