Chris Constantine usually gets the attention for Hingham. The senior stayed atop the Division 2A scoring race with his 28th and 29th touchdowns of the year in yesterday's 28-7 win over Scituate.

But Constantine wasn't the story. Conor Murphy was.

After Hingham's starting quarterback, senior Pat McAuley, went down with an injury on the third play of the game, Murphy, a junior who hadn't taken a snap all season, proved more than capable. The first pass of his varsity career went to Stephen Fallon for a 5-yard touchdown, and he threw another to Mike Murphy to put the Harbormen ahead to stay.

"He had never played a down of varsity football," said Hingham coach Paul Killinger. "To do that in front of 5,000 or 6,000 people is a great accomplishment."

Hingham senior captain Matt Cawley had three sacks and 12 tackles.

The Harbormen end the regular season at 10-1, 7-0 in the Patriot League. They'll play Seekonk Tuesday in the Eastern Mass. semifinals.

Dean Kennedy completed 16 of 30 passes for 174 yards for the Sailors (2-9, 2-5).
