ARCHBISHOP WILLIAMS
Coach: Bill Kinsherf (13th year, 75-50-1).
Last year's record: 5-5.
Football website: archbishopwilliamsbishops.ma.usfootballnet.com/
Playing surface: Artificial turf.
Returning starters (7): Nick Querzoli, CB/RB, 5-9, 175, Sr.; Brendan Foley, LB/G, 6-1, 230, Sr.; Enis Llagami, TE/DE, 6-3, 240, Jr.; Anthony Glynn, OT/DT, 6-3, 250, Jr.; Zach Duross WR, 6-1, 175, Jr.; Sean Provenzano, FB/LB, 5-7, 190, So.; Alex Furtado, RB, 5-8, 165, So.
Returning lettermen (5): Christian Papzian, TE/DT, 6-3, 220, Jr.; Colin Holmes, C, 5-10, 240, Sr.; Joe Farina, S, 5-8, 170, Sr.; Chris Kelly, OLB, 5-6, 170, Sr.; Tim O'Brien, DE, 6-1, 180, Sr.
Strengths: Backfield.
Concerns: Inexperience up front.
Outlook: A big but inexperienced front line will have to step up to aid the Bishops, who are counting on a running game that returns three starters. Senior captain and third-year starter Nick Querzoli and Sean Provenzano are expected to anchor a power running game to open things up for the speedy Alex Furtado. Defensively, Brendan Foley anchors a quick, athletic linebacking corps that includes Provenzano, who reacts to the ball well and can make tackles all over the field. They should be complemented by a defensive line with size in its favor. With inexperience at the quarterback position, the team isn't expected to air the ball out much, though wide receiver Zach Duross ought to be the main weapon utilized in developing the passing game. The backfield trio will have the task of carrying the offense on their back this season. Kinsherf expects his young team to rapidly improve throughout the year.

ARLINGTON CATHOLIC
Coach: Serge Clivio (19th year, 84-103).
Last year's record: 7-4.
Playing surface: Artificial turf.
Football website: accougarfootball.com (developing).
Returning starters (10): Corey Spencer, QB, 6-1, 200, SR.; Joe Wesoloski, WR, 6-5, 205, Sr.; Andrew Manning, WR, 5-11, 185, Sr.; Steve Pagliocca, LB, 6-2, 220, Sr.; Steve Kerins, LB/OL, 5-11 215, Sr.; Peter Gonchar, OL/DL, 6-3, 300, Sr.; Charlie Bates, RB/DB, 5-11, 185, Jr.; Travis Stanley, DB/K, 5-9, 160, Sr.; Brett Spracklin, DL/OL, 6-1 225, Sr.; James LaShoto, OL/DL, 6-2, 245, Jr.
Returning lettermen (13): Jibreel Henderson, WR/DB, Sr.; Al Brandano, DE, Sr.; Kevin Casey, OL, Sr.; Sean Delande, WR, Sr.; Paul Doheney, OL, Sr.; Chris Elbag, TE, Sr.; Ryan Harron, DE, Sr.; Mark Huntley, WR, Sr.; Peter Morley, DB, Sr.; Corey Donovan, LB, Jr.; Nick Doria, LB, Jr.; Ricky Douglass, WR/DB, Jr.; Jonathan Mancini, DB, Jr.
Strength: Skill positions.
Concern: Depth.
Outlook: Quarterback Corey Spencer, who threw for 1,900 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior, returns to anchor an Arlington Catholic team that went undefeated in league play last year. He'll have to exceed that kind of production this year, though, to offset the loss of 10 senior starters if the Cougars want to repeat last season's success. A defense led by returning starters Steve Kerins and Steve Pagliocca, both linebackers, should help ease some of the pressure on the offense. Clivio expects his defensive line to be an asset as well. Charlie Bates, a solid and reliable back, should lead the running game. Ultimately, it'll be Spencer, who tied for the lead in Division 3 with 17 touchdown passes, and the success of the passing attack that determines the fate of AC this year.

AUSTIN PREP
Coach: Bill Maradei (30th year, 210-91-4).
Last year's record: 5-6.
Playing surface: Grass.
Football website: austinprepschool.org/?action=page&;page.path=/athletics/fall/football/varsity
Returning Starters (8): Pat Delaney, RB, 5-10, 180, Sr.; John Randolph, LB, 6-0, 185, Sr.; Scott Sutherland, DB, 6-0, 170, Sr.; Jim Wilkie, OL/DL, 6-2, 240, Sr.; Ray Acciavatti, RB, 5-10, 160, Jr.; Brendan Burke, TE, 6-2, 200, Jr.; Matt Mulcahy, LB, 5-11, 185, Jr.; Jon Richard DB, 5-9, 145, Jr.
Returning letter winners (11): Chris Furlong, DL, Sr.; Sean Lenehan, DL, Sr.; L.J. McQuaid, OL, Sr.; Curtis Paparian, DL, Sr.; Peter White, OL, Sr.; Tom Williams, TE, Sr.; Nick Dell'Anno DB, Jr.; Jesse Vardaro, DL, Jr.; Ron Ditullio, DL, Jr.; Zack Deluca, LB, Jr.; Brandon Hartt, OL, Jr.
Strength: Linebackers and defensive backs.
Concern: Experience.
Outlook: A solid set of returnees on defense should be Austin Prep's best bet for success this season. Jim Wilkie will anchor both the offensive and defensive lines as the team's only returning two-way player. Head coach Bill Maradei called him a good leader and one of the hardest working kids on the team. He should be complemented by a talented set of linebackers that includes returning starters John Randolph and Matt Mulcahy. On offense, the Cougars are expected to be able to run the ball better than they pass, as Pat Delaney and Ray Acciavatti will share the load out of the backfield. Maradei expects his talented, though young secondary to also be a strength of the team's. Junior Jon Richard, a starter last season, leads the set of defensive backs.

BISHOP FENWICK
Coach: Dave Woods (10th year, 82-31).
Last year's record: 7-4.
Playing surface: Artificial turf.
Football website: fenwick.org/bishopfenwick.aspx?pgID=935.
Returning starters (8): Dale Crispin, FB/LB, 6-0, 190, Sr.; Dennis Kanarkiewicz, OT/DT, 6-2, 255, Sr.; Dan Kennedy, RB/DB, 5-11, 185, Sr.; Chris White, OG/DE, 6-2, 235, Sr.; Kyle White, RB/LB, 5-8, 165, Sr.; Patrick Holleran QB/DB, 5-10, 180, Sr.; Kevin Pierce, OG/LB, 5-10, 185, Jr.; Zach Nardone, OT/DT, 6-0, 210, So.
Returning letter winners (11): Sr. Zach Fitch, OG/LB, Sr.; Tyler Hurst, RB/LB, Sr.; Tom Moules, C/LB, Sr.; Matt Murray, OT/LB, Sr.; Jared Raby, WR/DB, Sr.; John Welz, WR/DB, Jr.; Joe Bona, TE/LB, Jr.; Nick Corbett, RB/LB, JR.; Peter Cushing, OG/DT, Jr.; Chris Renzulli, QB/DB, Jr.; Joe Terry, C/DE.
Strengths: Depth, offensive line.
Concern: Infusion of youth.
Outlook: With 12 returning seniors, Fenwick is perhaps the most experienced team in all of Catholic Central Large. They are, of course, replacing 10 seniors themselves, including the incomparable Bobby Tarr, who led Division 3 in scoring last fall. Leading the way to replace Tarr will be Dale Crispin, Dan Kennedy, and Kyle White. The trio should benefit from an experienced offensive line in front of them, anchored by Dennis Kanarkiewicz and Chris White. With a number of underclassmen filling in around a senior-heavy set of returning players, Woods hopes a challenging non-league schedule that includes dates with Swampscott and Methuen will prepare the large young portion of his team for the grind of league play. With both a new offense and defense installed, expect the Crusaders to look quite different this year.

CARDINAL SPELLMAN
Coach: Ron St. George (first year at Spellman, 26th overall, 192-84-4).
Last year's record: 1-9.
Playing surface: Grass.
Football website: Spellman.com
Returning starters (4): Fabrice Dragon, RB/S; Sean OBrien, T/T; Leo Finnegan, DL; Bobby Nadel FB/LB.
Returning letter winners: Too many to list
Strength: Leadership, attitude.
Concern: Inexperience.
Outlook: St. George comes over from BC High, where he led an undefeated squad last year to a Catholic Conference title. In Brockton, he'll be looking to turn around a team that has gone 4-16-1 the last two seasons. He said his most important task will be implementing an entirely new system and establishing new standards while stressing a good work ethic for the team. The Cardinals will look to get production from the running game, which will have Febrice Dragon carrying the load in the backfield. He'll have Sean O'Brien leading the offensive line in front of him. The unit as a whole, while young, is one that St. George hopes can click and develop into a force for the team. He's also hoping for growth and development from a defense that severely lacks in terms of returning starters.

ST. MARY'S
Coach: Matt Durgin (first year at St. Mary's, 12th overall, 77-41).
Last year's record: 1-10.
Playing surface: Artifical turf.
Returning starters (10): Shaun Kehoe, RB/DB, 5-9, 160, Sr.; John Lamothe, QB/LB, 5-10, 170, Sr.; Jordan Harvey, RB, 5-8, 165, Sr.; Brendan Donovan, LB, 5-9, 180, Sr.; C.J. Hudson, G/DT, 5-11, 220, Sr.; Derek Riley, TE/DE, 6-5, 285, Sr.; Joe Masucci, OT, 6-0, 240, Sr.; Billy Bergeron LB, 5-9, 175, Jr.; Tim Ray, WR/DB, 5-11, 170, Jr.; Michael Kulch, DT, 5-8, 180, Jr.
Strengths: Work ethic and enthusiasm.
Concerns: Depth.
Outlook: St. Mary's welcomes Durgin from Lynn Classical, the school that just happens to be St. Mary's first opponent. The strongest aspect of St. Mary's roster can be found at the skill positions, where Durgin expects Shaun Kehoe to take most of the carries at running back and John Lamothe to produce at quarterback. Lamothe should be able to find a target in Derek Riley, a 6-5 senior tight end. St. Mary's should be more of a run-first team, but look for them to also throw enough to keep defenses honest. The freshmen are also expected to play a significant role. Chief among the class is Nick Day, who will see time at running back, wide receiver and defensive back.
