Happy birthday for Izzo and Walpole
Rest assured Ryan Izzo won't be forgetting this birthday present any time soon.
The Walpole junior running back turned 17 yesterday and had his third career 200-plus rushing game. He carried 17 times for 254 yards for three touchdowns, added a 26-yard catch for a score in the Rebels 34-13 win over Framingham.
"I think we started off slow tonight," said Walpole coach Danny Villa, whose team trailed, 7-6, after one quarter. "But with a player like him [Izzo], it's just a matter of time."
The backbreaker came in the second quarter with 3:30 left. Out of the shotgun, Izzo took a handoff and ran left, slipping inside a block by receiver T.J. Kelliher and cut to the sideline for an 83-yard touchdown. That made it 20-7 Walpole.
