On a night when yards on the ground were not coming with their usual ease for Everett, the Crimson Tide looked to the sky for Jesus.

Senior Jesus Crawford, a Dorchester native, made his final high school homecoming a night to remember last night at BC High's Viola Stadium. The 5-foot-11-inch, 185-pound wide receiver caught two touchdown passes during Everett's 26-0 victory.

"It feels good to come back," said Crawford. "I had a tough time last game so I knew I had to come back to Boston with a bang."

Crawford beat up on the Eagles' secondary, tallying three receptions for 125 yards and both touchdowns in the first half. He cruised past cornerback Niall Murphy for a 29-yard touchdown on a fly pattern 5:44 into the game, then repeated the pattern against double coverage for an 89-yard score in the second quarter.

"I just zoomed past them, my man couldn't stick me [on the first touchdown], and I was just able to beat the double [on the second]," Crawford said.

Crawford finally got to take a break in the second half, catching one more pass for 33 yards. The three-year starter, who will continue his football career at Boston College next season, was responsible for 165 of Everett's 306 yards from scrimmage (he also added a 7-yard rush) and was the only Everett receiver to catch a pass until midway through the third quarter.

Crawford's performance certainly helped the Crimson Tide regain some of the swagger they lost after falling to St. John's Prep 11 days ago.

"We don't want to lose again," Crawford said. "This win put us right back into the thick of things in the state and we want to use it as a building block for the rest of the season."
