Duxbury to play for Patriot title

Duxbury used one win to accomplish two things last night. The Dragons downed visiting Silver Lake, 17-7, to remain undefeated and clinch a berth in the Patriot League championship game.

Duxbury (9-0) wrapped up first place in the Keenan Division. Silver Lake (6-3) had also been undefeated in league play at 4-0.

Shane DiBona scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter to give the Dragons a 7-0 lead at halftime.

Duxbury added to its lead in the third, with Sean Cross connecting with Ian Whitney for a 41-yard touchdown pass. Cross was 12 of 22 for 262 yards.

Jake Luque ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the fourth to put Silver Lake on the board. Ben Startzell added a 21-yard field goal for Duxbury.

The Dragons will face Hanover in the championship game Nov. 15 at Whitman-Hanson. Nick Hocking caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Matt Johnson in the third quarter as Hanover topped Rockland, 7-0, to earn its spot in the game.

Division 1

Catholic Conference: St. John's Prep 34, Malden Catholic 6 - Greg Donohue threw three touchdown passes for the Eagles (5-4).

Old Colony: Bridgewater-Raynham 35, Barnstable 18 - Jake Williams rushed for two touchdowns to lead B-R (3-6).

Nonleague: Bishop Feehan 35, Durfee 0 - Bryan Webb ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns for Feehan (7-1).

Catholic Memorial 27, Plymouth South 7 - Catholic Memorial (8-0) got two touchdowns from Delroy McDonald to remain perfect.

Taunton 21, New Bedford 13 - Alphonso Williams had a touchdown run for Taunton (4-5).

Melrose 29, Malden 0 - Jack Pizzotti and Tim Morris each had a pair of rushing TDs.

Division 1A

Dual County Small: Concord-Carlisle 42, Wayland 7 - Harry Scales caught three TD passes from Dan D'Arcy.

Merrimack Valley: Catholic Central 20, Billerica 8 - Tom Lacroix and Brendan Walsh scored for Central Catholic (5-4), ending Billerica's hopes for a league title.

Dracut 42, Chelmsford 22 - Matt Grimard rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns and threw a TD pass.

Methuen 28, Haverhill 6 - Mike Bartlett ran for three touchdowns and 154 yards.

Bay State: Natick 21, Weymouth 7 - Tim Brandt ran for three TDs for Natick (9-0).

Division 2

Middlesex: Reading 39, Belmont 0 - Ryan Pollock led Reading (9-0) with two touchdowns.

Burlington 49, Stoneham 14 - Brendan Farley threw three TD passes to Sean Moran.

Hockomock: Franklin 35, Sharon 8 - Matt Carini ran for 213 yards and three touchdowns to lead Franklin (6-3).

King Philip 16, Stoughton 12 - Brandon Howard ran and passed for a touchdown.

Eastern Athletic: Coyle & Cassidy 39, Somerset 14 - Conor Henry targeted Denis Doherty on three TD passes.

Division 2A

Cape Ann Large: Masconomet 35, Pentucket 13 - Evan Bunker ran for 214 yards and three touchdowns as Masco (6-3) clinched the division.

Wilmington 27, North Andover 21 - Steve Stewart and Evan Butters ran for two TDs apiece to put Wilmington (7-2) on top. North Andover's loss enabled Masconomet to clinch the conference.

Northeastern Large: Gloucester 35, Lynn English 7 - Taylor Burbine had three rushing touchdowns as Gloucester (8-1) clinched the conference title.

Division 3

Tri-Valley: Norton 42, Millis 12 - Sean Ryan ran for four touchdowns and caught a TD pass.

Medway 28, Westwood 13 - Tyler Iarussi ran for 122 yards, had 55 receiving yards, and scored three touchdowns for Medway (9-0).

Dover-Sherborn 28, Ashland 0 - Andrew Perlmutter ran for three touchdowns, threw a TD pass, and finished with 283 all-purpose yards.

South Shore: Mashpee 21, Carver 6 - Taed Dias made 11 tackles and had an interception to lead the Mashpee (9-0) defense, and he scored two touchdowns.

Catholic Central Large: Bishop Fenwick 38, St. Mary's 26 - Kyle White found the end zone twice and ran for 200 yards.

Division 3A

Boston North: South Boston 22, West Roxbury 0 - Daquan Hill, Akeem George, and Derick Willis scored touchdowns for Southie (8-1, 3-0).

East Boston 22, Boston English 14 - Eastie (5-3, 3-0) got a pair of touchdowns from Matt Wyatt to keep pace with Southie in Boston North.

Cape Ann Small: Amesbury 35, Hamilton-Wenham 13 - Kevin Johnston ran for 118 yards and three TDs.

Division 4

Boston South: O'Bryant 31, Hyde Park 0 - Josh Carrington rushed for two touchdowns and O'Bryant (8-0) clinched the division.

Dorchester 22, Burke 12 - Dejon Berment ran for three touchdowns.

Catholic Central Small: Cathedral 32, Trinity Catholic 0 - Kevin Marseille scored two touchdowns.
