The Americans United for the Separation of Church and State became involved with the appeals process. Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of the organization, said, "The coach is engaged in the promotion of religion, and that's not something that's appropriate in his roles as coach, if he does it quietly or not so quietly."
