10 moments to savor: Fall 2010

Bill Tighe goes out a winner The fact that Lexington coach Bill Tighe went out a winner on Thanksgiving hardly matters. Wins and losses never defined the 86-year-old veteran of 60 years on the sidelines of Massachusetts football fields. The numbers were staggering: 514 games, 269 wins, 52 seasons as a head coach, a member of eight Halls of Fame. When time ran out on Lexington’s 14-0 win over Burlington, his players said it best. ‘‘This is a special moment,” said Connor Murray, who scored both touchdowns in the win. ‘‘I can’t imagine what it will be like next year, because Bill Tighe is Lexington football.’’ Anyone care to follow in his footsteps?
