No. 3: Notre Dame stellar at Sterling
The layout at Sterling
National Country Club
wasn't for the squeamish.
In fact, it was the toughest
test of the year for every
girl playing golf in the
state team championship.
But in the end, as it has for eight
straight seasons, Notre Dame of
Hingham emerged with the state
title. The Cougars' win was by 29
strokes over second-place Westboro.
The scary thing for opponents is that
Notre Dame's top two scorers were
freshmen, Alison Eleey (low round
for the day with a 76) and Lauren
Flynn (83). Only 15 players broke
100.
