Thanks to Corey Thomas,
no one shows up late for
track meets anymore.
Thats because one of
the first events is the
high jump, an event that
Thomas made his own this winter.
On Feb. 1 at the State Coaches Elite
Meet, Thomas, a BC High senior,
broke Greg Gonzalvess 28-year-old
meet record when he cleared
7Æ feet to start competition at the
Reggie Lewis Center. Though he
didnt clear 7-feet again at a major
meet, he cleared 6-11 at the state
meet to break a 17-year-old record.
He also won the 55-hurdles title
at the state meet for the second
straight year.
