Boys’ hockey Players of the Week

Tim Birarelli, Beverly — The Panthers are two games away from an unbeaten regular season thanks in large part to the play of their junior netminder, who collected his eighth shutout of the season Wednesday night as Beverly traveled to Mansfield and took care of the Hornets, 4-0.

David Cataldo, Marshfield – The Rams began the week by extending their Atlantic Coast lead over Plymouth South with a 6-3 victory as the senior forward skated his way to a hat trick and an assist.

Matt Filipe, Malden Catholic — The three-time defending Super 8 champion Lancers are in postseason form, and so is their sophomore forward. A second-line center for Malden Catholic, Filipe collected a goal and a pair of assists in a 6-0 shutout of Wilmington, the two-time defending Div. 2 champions. Four nights later, Filipe potted a “natural hat trick” in the first period as the top-ranked Lancers jumped all over No. 7 Catholic Memorial, 11-0.
