Tyler Sifferlen sparks Malden Catholic

Streaking down the left wing boards without an Austin Prep defender within two hockey sticks length, Tyler Sifferlen brought the Malden Catholic crowd to its’ feet.

The Lancers’ senior captain collected a beautiful cross-ice pass from Chris Hopkins, setting up a breakaway showdown with Cougars goaltender Elijah Harris. Closing in on the right side of the net, Sifferlen showed off a nifty slew of puck moves before slipping a sneaky lefty backhander past a sprawled Harris for the game’s first goal with 51 seconds remaining in the first period.

Sifferlen’s sixth goal of the postseason broke a scoreless tie and ignited a Lancers offensive outburst en route to a fourth straight Super 8 championship in Sunday’s 5-3 triumph over Austin Prep at TD Garden.
