In a highly anticipated boys’ lacrosse matchup Thursday, second-ranked Duxbury upset No. 1 host Lincoln-Sudbury, handing the Warriors their first defeat this season in an 8-7 quadruple overtime thriller.
Immediately following the postgame celebration, Duxbury head coach Chris Sweet said, “I don’t know if you can find a better high school game than that.”
He might be right.
“I think that’s the first time since since I’ve been the Duxbury coach, 15 years, that we’ve gone to four overtimes,” Sweet said.
Duxbury controlled play early. But the Warriors opened up the scoring. The Green Dragons responded quickly however, with a goal from Tyler Powers with two minutes left in the first quarter. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
