While Reading's defense focused its attention on teammate Lauren Sullivan, junior midfielder Sara Hennessey moved under the radar.
Winchester was down, 13-12, when Hennessey netted back-to-back goals with less than two minutes to go, giving the Sachems the 14-13 victory over their Middlesex League rivals.
"She's actually had a couple of really big games recently," Winchester coach Suzanne Ontso said of Hennessey, who totaled six goals. "The defense was so focused on another player Sara took advantage of some big openings there."
Once No. 10 Winchester (8-1) went on top, senior captain Kelsi Tucci (goal, assist) stripped the ball on the Rockets' last possession to cap a phenomenal defensive game.
Sullivan finished with three goals and two assists, and senior Ali Stager led the charge for No. 17 Reading, tallying four goals and two assists.
"Reading is very strong this year and they're loaded with seniors," Ontso said. "They always play us hard in the league."
Shawsheen 13, Malden 5 - Sophomore attack wing Jessie Houghton netted five goals and added two assists to lead Shawsheen (6-2) to victory.
Bridgewater-Raynham 16, Barnstable 15 - Jess Ferrigno (seven goals), Jill Yung (four goals), and Kristen Jones (two goals), pitched in for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-7), and sophomore Julia Coakley had 19 saves in goal.
Bourne 21, Fairhaven 3 - Juniors Taylor Corsano (three goals, nine assists) and Kayleigh Dube (six goals, assist) led Bourne (7-2-2) over Maritime League contender Fairhaven.
Norwell 25, Hull 10 - Kara O'Connell scored five goals and dished out two assists for Norwell.
Masconomet 17, Newburyport 10 - Junior midfielder Sydney Godett led Masconomet (8-3) with six goals and four assists on the game.
Pembroke 18, Whitman-Hanson 7 - Cara Cahill scored six goals to lead the Titans.
Quincy 9, Silver Lake 3 - Junior center Brianne Phelan scored three goals and senior attackman Leah Wood added a goal and an assist for Quincy in its 9-3 win over Patriot League opponent Silver Lake.
Triton 15, North Reading 14 - North Reading (4-6) fought back from an eight-goal deficit, before falling short of Triton.
Bishop Fenwick 18, Matignon 6 - Senior center Bridget Dullea led Bishop Fenwick (6-1), with five goals and two assists.
Sandwich 8, 3 - Elise Kinchla, Ashley Holmes, and Kristen Guest each had two goals and an assist for Sandwich.
Falmouth Academy 15, Lincoln School (R.I.) 12 - Kallie Leschen-Lindell scored five goals and an assist for Falmouth Academy.
Dover-Sherborn 13, Hopkinton 7 - Dover-Sherborn senior Emily Thorndike had 20 saves in goal.
Duxbury 3.50, Falmouth 2.50 - Briana Conley made par on the ninth hole to win her match, 1 up, for Duxbury.
Central Catholic 3, Arlington Catholic 1 - The Raiders took the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run homer from Tina Eringis.
East Bridgewater 6, Harwich 2 - East Bridgewater's Nicole Eisenmann allowed only four hits and one earned run in a complete game for her seventh win of the season. Senior catcher Kyla Palaschak added three hits and an RBI.
Hull 8, Mashpee 3 - Senior pitcher Rachel Allen had a career-high 15 strikeouts and only surrendered three hits for Hull (4-4).
Brockton 5, New Bedford 2 - Jennifer Shaw belted a home run in the fifth inning to help Brockton (6-5) earn a Big Three win.
Cohasset 15, Norwell 0 - Kelly Naegelin pitched a five-inning perfect game and third and fourth batters Carly Salerno (3 for 4, five RBIs) and Meredith Kelly (4 for 4, three RBIs) drove in eight of the team's RBIs as Cohasset (10-1) qualified for the state tournament.
Weymouth 2, Braintree 1 - Although star hurler Liz DiMascio (14 strikeouts) pitched a perfect game through six innings, Weymouth (5-5) went on top in the seventh, winning the Bay State matchup and handing No. 6 Braintree its second loss of the season.
Winthrop 14, Mt. St. Joseph 7 - The home team saw its season-opening seven-game winning streak snapped, and junior catcher Abby Belcher picked off five of six steal attempts.
Trinity Catholic 8, Maimonides 6 - Molly Stone hit a two-run homer in the second inning and struck out six to lead Trinity Catholic.
Middleboro 16, Randolph 1 - Middleboro and its star pitcher, Amber White, both continued their perfect 12-0 season by defeating Randolph in five innings. The junior hurler notched nine strikeouts.
South Shore Voc-Tech 12, Chatham 1 - Nicolette Hutchinson drove in four runs on a 3-for-4 day for South Shore Vocational-Technical.
Plymouth North 12, Dennis-Yarmouth 4 - Junior Bryanna Joseph went 3 for 4, and senior pitcher Sheila Fey struck out four through seven innings for Plymouth North (7-2).
Taunton 17, Barnstable 1 - Brittney Furtado racked up a whopping eight RBIs, including four on a first-inning grand slam for the Tigers.
Pentucket 6, Newburyport 4 - Bernadette Corrado's two-run triple in the fifth inning propelled Pentucket over visiting Newburyport.
Norton 73, Millis 63 - Laura Johansmeyer was a double winner for Norton in both hurdles events at 100 meters (17.5 seconds) and 400 meters (1:12.7).

Middleboro 87, Randolph 49 - In Middleboro's 87-49 home win over Randolph, senior Rebecca Gaudet won the triple jump and the 400 meter hurdles, Mary Farley took the javelin and the 800 meters, and Elissa May emerged victorious in both the one- and two-mile races.
Holliston 91, Medway 45 - Emmaline Berg won the shot put (41-6) and the discus (101-8) to lead Holliston.
Chelsea 77.50, Greater Lowell 58.50 - Jermania Barrios won the one- and two-mile races for Greater Lowell in its 77.5-58.5 win over visiting Chelsea.
Burlington 77, Stoneham 59 - Senior captain Melissa Mancini broke Burlington's school record in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 12.5 seconds.

Mashpee 6, Hull 1 - Mashpee won its third straight game behind junior first baseman Cory Andre's three-hit, three-RBI effort and Michael McGuinness's six solid innings on the mound.
Taunton 6, Barnstable 5 - Isaiah Voegeli hit 4 for 4, but it wasn't enough for Barnstable.
Hamilton-Wenham 13, Triton 1 - Hamilton-Wenham's Matt Greek went 3 for 3 with three RBIs in the Generals' 13-1 win over Cape Ann League opponent Triton. The senior also pitched six innings of two-hit ball and added five strikeouts.
Whittier 10, Lowell Catholic 3 - Whittier's Steve Surette went 3 for 3 with two runs batted in. Backing him was Bill Lafferty, who gave up just three hits in six innings.

Latin Academy 16, Burke 4 - Latin Academy cruised past Burke behind senior leftfielder Sal Russo's 4-for-4, two-RBI performance. Tommy Brown, Dylan Warfield and Chris O'Neil all hit home runs for the Dragons in the win.
Scituate 15, Cohasset 11 - Senior attackmen Greg Reynolds (four goals) and Kyle Crowley (four goals, two assists) lit up the Scituate (8-5) offense. Sophomore midfielder Wes Hawkins chipped in with two goals and two assists.
