Flyers overwhelm Weymouth

It was a little bit of payback for the host Framingham boys' soccer team. After tying Weymouth twice last season, results that contributed to the Wildcats' Bay State League title, Framingham made sure there was no tie yesterday, taking a 5-1 win.

"We played a tough team today. It's only September, so we'll see what happens when we play them in October," said Framingham coach Dan Avery. "It's always been a good battle."

No. 4 Framingham (4-0) scored 90 seconds into the match on a shot by Ronaldo Bieira, which changed the tenor.

Erick Nader, Adam Skaggs, Marlon Ramalho, and John Goncalves, who scored his fifth goal, also connected for Framingham.

No. 6 Weymouth (4-1) didn't score until less than two minutes remained as Jake Bristol converted.

Flyers junior keeper Luka Pignatiello made five stops, and Nick Patten made seven for Weymouth.

Eastern Athletic: Host Somerset and Bishop Feehan dueled to a 1-1 tie. Feehan senior goaltender Matt Sears stopped 13 shots. The scores came a minute apart. Somerset's Ben Berubi took a pass down the left side, dribbled 25 feet, and shot a rocket to the back of the net. Feehan answered on a short corner kick by senior Mike Doherty.

Middlesex: No. 1 Lexington (6-0) trimmed Watertown, 5-2. Eric Beard scored a pair of goals and added an assist for the Minutemen. Watertown (4-2) became the first team to score on Lexington this season.

Nonleague: Scoring his first varsity goal, junior Jeff Monroe helped lead BC High (2-1-1) to a 2-0 blanking of Brighton. Eagles senior goalie Ryan Russell had four saves for his third shutout.
