Duxbury senior captain Dan Sangster looped a direct kick past a wall of Hanover defenders 10 minutes into the second half yesterday as the visiting Green Dragons earned a 1-1 tie in a battle of unbeaten Patriot League boys’ soccer teams.

With strong winds constantly spraying passes and loose balls out of bounds, Hanover (6-0-2) jumped to a 1-0 lead early in the first half when freshman Dylan Griffith fought through a scrum to send home a free kick from Paul Murray.

After the half, Duxbury (5-0-2) controlled possession throughout the rest of the contest, tying the game on Sangster’s goal.

“We got off to a very slow start,’’ Duxbury coach John Tocci said. “It took us almost the whole first half to get out of our funk.’’

Hanover coach Jim Sylvia said that although he was happy with how his young team played against a “very good’’ Duxbury squad, he’s looking ahead to interdivision play next week as the postseason approaches.
