Central Catholic topples Newton North for North softball title

LOWELL — Central Catholic captured the Division 1 North softball crown Sunday, defeating Newton North, 10-2 at Martin Park.

The Raiders will face Milford Tuesday in the EMass final.

Central Catholic (20-4) was fresh off a thrilling 5-3, 10-inning semifinal victory over Concord-Carlisle. Sophomore third baseman Karoline Leavitt said Red Raiders carried that momentum into this game.

“Our confidence was soaring today,” said Leavitt, who was 3 for 4 with an RBI. “I was confident when I went up to the plate and put the bat on the ball.”
