Shannon Smith receives plenty of accolades for her pitching, but it was a three-run homer off her bat in addition to her arm that help lift Milford to a 7-0 win over top-seeded Bridgewater-Raynham in the Division 1 South final.

“I was seeing her real well,” said Smith, a senior. “I knew where it was coming my second at-bat and I got a good piece.”

B-R had the early momentum after All-Scholastic Maddie Shaw doubled to lead off the game. But Smith used her glove to work out of the jam, snagging a squeeze attempt in the air and doubling Shaw off third to end the threat.

“That double play was a huge momentum turn, and very fortunate for us,” said Milford coach Brian Macchi.
