The top-ranked Concord-Carlisle softball team continues to hold the rope.
Senior Kim Miner pitched her fourth no-hitter of the season as the Patriots blanked Reading, 3-0, yesterday at Concord.
"It's just beautiful to have the kids to come out, to play as hard as they can, to pitch as well as they can, to run the bases," Concord-Carlisle coach Lisa McGloin said. "We've been talking all year about holding the rope and what that means to us is . . . you have to hold up your part of the bargain. Everyone knows their role and they're holding up their part of the bargain."
Concord-Carlisle (20-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Eliza Jacobellis's RBI grounder.
Jacobellis was also a factor in the third inning. With runners on first and second, the No. 3 hitter socked a one-out, RBI double down the left-field line.
When catcher Lisa DeBruzzi followed with another run-scoring double, Miner, who struck out 14 and walked two, had all the support she needed against ninth-ranked Reading (12-5).
" I think the key for me was really bearing down and focusing," Miner said. "[McGloin] helped me find the key points in my motion that I had to work on and [DeBruzzi] helped me a lot out there today."
