After a long afternoon workout Wednesday, Adams was dripping with sweat despite the cool mid-60s temperature, and standing at the top of the hill in Lincoln Park. Babcock offered him a ride back down.

“No thanks,” Adams said.

He ran. Quiet. Alone. The way he likes it.

Brookline High boys end 7-year streak

For the first time in seven years, the Brookline High boys’ cross-country team lost a Bay State League meet. On Tuesday, Weymouth ended the streak with a 25-30 win. Weymouth (6-1), Newton North (6-1), and Brookline (5-1) are still in the mix for the league title.

“It happens, I guess,” coach Mike Glennon said. “We’re not used to it, so hopefully we’ll use it as motivation. Our group now has to deal with the fact that they’re the ones that lost.”

Seniors Aaron Klein and Jesse Fajnzylber  lead a deep squad in a quest to remain one of the best teams in the state.
