The Taunton boys’ volleyball has been patiently waiting for this moment.
The 10th-seeded Tigers, with nine seniors, took the court Friday for a South sectional showdown at Wellesley.
Eight of those nine seniors have been part of the program for at least three years. The group took their lumps, but on Friday it was pure celebration as they edged out the Raiders, 3-2, clinching the first state tournament victory for the program.
After splitting the first four sets (23-25, 25-17, 14-25, 25-15), Taunton closed it out with a 15-10 win in the final frame, finishing on a 9-2 run.
