Everything seemed to be working for Michael Antonellis.

In last year’s Division 1 volleyball state final against Agawam, the 6-foot-4 outside hitter’s right-handed smash powered through two would-be blocks for a Milford kill. A moment later, he sent a ball hurtling toward a defenseless opponent for another. Even flat-footed, he was able to rise up and uncoil for points.

Antonellis finished with a career-high 22 kills on the day, all of which are still live on YouTube, easily replayed with the click of a button.

Now a senior captain for the Hawks, Antonellis is chasing that feeling again, yet hoping for a different outcome.

Last season, for the second consecutive season, Milford finished as the state runner-up.
