New England Revolution play to 0-0 draw with Portland Timbers

The Revolution earned a point for the third time in four matches, playing to a scoreless draw with the Portland Timbers Thursday night.

Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth had eight saves as the Timbers dominated possession. Donovan Ricketts had four saves for Portland before a crowd of 20,674, the 39th sellout at Jeld-Wen Field.

New England is 2-3-3 but winless on the road. The Timbers stand at 3-1-5 having extended their unbeaten streak to seven games. It’s Portland’s longest such streak since joining Major League Soccer in 2011.

The Revolution defeated the Philadelphia Union, 2-2, last Saturday, snapping a five-match unbeaten streak. But Thursday marked the fifth time in eight matches this season they failed to score. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
