The Revolution have started to restock their roster, re-signing defenders Kevin Alston and Darrius Barnes, and goalkeeper Luis Soffner for 2014. The terms were not disclosed.
Alston and Barnes will return for their sixth seasons with New England, and Soffner will be back for his second. All three players were originally drafted by the Revolution.
Alston, 25, a 2009 MLS Super Draft first-round pick out of Indiana, appeared in only nine games last season (six starts), as he was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in April. He returned to the field July 27 and was named the MLS Comeback Player of The Year.
Barnes, 27, a third-round pick out of Duke in the 2009 SuperDraft, has made 98 appearances with New England. In his rookie season, he played every minute of every game.
Soffner, 23, a second-round pick out of Indiana in the 2013 SuperDraft, has never started a regular-season game.
