Dallas sinks Real Salt Lake

Richard Mulrooney and Carlos Ruiz each had a goal and an assist to lead FC Dallas past Real Salt Lake, 3-0, in Dallas last night.

Mulrooney's goal came on a direct free kick in the fourth minute. Ruiz scored in the 63d minute on a penalty kick, which was awarded after Real defender Rusty Pierce was charged with a takedown in front of the Real Salt Lake net.

Eddie Johnson scored for FC Dallas (3-0-1) in the 35th minute with a left-footed shot into the right corner of the net from 12 yards.

Earthquakes 3, Wizards 2 -- San Jose goalkeeper Pat Onstad stopped Josh Wolff's penalty kick in the second half and the host Earthquakes held on to beat Kansas City. Dwayne DeRosario, Ronald Cerritos, and Brian Ching scored for San Jose (1-1-2).

Galaxy 3, Chivas USA 1 -- Cobi Jones, Peter Vagenas, and Jovan Kirovski scored goals to help host Los Angeles beat Chivas USA before a packed crowd of more than 27,000 fans for the first meeting between the city rivals.

Rapids 2, Crew 0 -- In Denver, Pablo Mastroeni scored in the second minute as Colorado earned its first victory in four games (1-2-1).
