The Revolution, which is tied for the overall lead in Major League Soccer with 17 points, had three players -- defender Michael Parkhurst, midfielder Steve Ralston, and forward Taylor Twellman -- named yesterday to the United States team roster for the Gold Cup, scheduled for June 24 in six US cities.

No team had more players named than the Revolution. Also named was former Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey, now playing for Fulham FC in England. The players will remain with the Revolution for tomorrow's game against Kansas City and the June 2 match with Real Salt Lake, then depart for training camp in Carson, Calif.

The US team also announced that Tim Howard has replaced Kasey Keller as the top goalkeeper. Keller, 37, has 97 international appearances and started for the US at the 1998 and 2006 World Cups. Howard, 28, was a backup at last year's tournament in Germany.

"It's a discussion that we've had with Tim and with Kasey," said US coach Bob Bradley. "I do foresee the idea that in the first round Kasey will also play one of those games, and then following those games decisions get made upon form and what we feel is the best decision on the day for our team."

Juan Pablo Angel had two goals and an assist to lead the undermanned New York Red Bulls to a record-setting 3-0 win over the Chicago Fire last night in an MLS game in East Rutherford, N.J.

Jozy Altidore also scored for the Red Bulls (5-1-2), which set an MLS record for the quickest two goals at the start of a game. And Altidore's goal -- which came just 55 seconds into the match -- was the fastest goal in franchise history. Angel then scored at 2:22, allowing the Red Bulls to eclipse the previous record of 3 minutes, which was achieved by DC United in 1997 and 2001.

The win allowed the Red Bulls to tie the Revolution for most points in MLS with 17.
