Sounders hit a high note

Defender Patrick Ianni scored on a bicycle kick during the first minute of the second half, and the Sounders rallied for a 2-1 win over MLS-leading Houston Dynamo yesterday in Seattle.

Ianni’s winning goal - his first of the season - started with a corner kick from the right wing. Freddie Ljungberg drove the ball into the box, where Steve Zakuani headed it to Ianni. With the ball on his right foot, Ianni bicycled it over goalkeeper Pat Onstad from the right side of the 6-yard box.

Brad Davis’s third goal of the season gave the Dynamo (9-4-4) the lead in the 12th minute but Fredy Montero extended his goal streak to five games for Seattle (7-3-7) with his ninth of the year, tying it in the 31st minute.

Crew 0, Fire 0 - William Hesmer made a career-high 11 saves to help Columbus to a scoreless draw with Chicago in Bridgeview, Ill.

Jon Busch made four saves for Chicago (6-3-7), which moved into first place in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of Columbus and idle D.C. United.

Rapids 1, FC Dallas 0 - Kosuke Kimura scored in the 79th minute to help host Colorado end a three-game skid.

Toronto FC 3, Earthquakes 1 - Chad Barrett had two goals and assisted on the go-ahead score to lead Toronto FC past San Jose in Santa Clara, Calif.

Galaxy 1, Chivas USA 0 - Edson Buddle scored in the 30th minute, lifting Los Angeles over Chivas USA in Carson, Calif.
