Breakers (5-6-3, 18 points): Jennie Nobis is making the most of her starts this season. Last week, in her second start, she collected her second goal of the year in a 2-1 loss against Sky Blue FC. The goal came in stoppage time and wasn’t enough to get by pesky Sky Blue, which captured the season series . . . Brazilian forward Fabiana made her WPS debut for the Breakers, starting for the first time since recovering from knee surgery. The Breakers missed forward and leading scorer Kelly Smith, who was out with a knee injury. She has five goals and two assists.

Chicago (4-6-5, 17 points): Forward Christiane scored all three goals in a 3-1 win against FC Gold Pride last week, becoming the first player this season to accomplish the feat. She was honored as Player of the Week for the achievement. She leads the Red Stars with six goals . . . The Red Stars enter the match with back-to-back wins . . . The Red Stars and the Breakers have split their previous two meetings, with Chicago winning the first, 4-0, and the Breakers claiming the second, 2-0.
