Galaxy coach Bruce Arena watched from a private box after spending two nights in a hospital with a viral illness.
Arena was in the locker room following the game and said he may have Dengue fever, which is caused by a mosquito bite. The illness is usually contracted in the tropics — the Galaxy played a CONCACAF Champions League game at the Puerto Rico Islanders Aug. 4.

Dallas 3, United 1 — Eric Alexander scored his first career goal and FC Dallas beat host D.C. United, stretching its road unbeaten streak to nine, tying the MLS record.
Jair Benitez’s own goal in the 79th minute was the only tally for United, who have lost five straight, including the last two under interim coach Ben Olsen.
Salt Lake 2, Crew 0 — Javier Morales scored twice and Real Salt Lake extended its franchise-record home unbeaten streak to 21 regular-season games by shutting out Columbus. The league record is 22, held by the Crew.
Morales scored in the 11th minute, firing a shot from the top left corner of the penalty box off the far post and past goalkeeper William Hesmer.
Earthquakes 1, Wizards 0 — Chris Wondolowski scored his team-high seventh goal and new acquisition Khari Stephenson delivered his first MLS assist to lead San Jose over Kansas City in Santa Clara, Calif.
Wondolowski, who hadn’t scored since June 2, volleyed home a perfectly delivered 25-yard chip pass from Stephenson in the 35th minute.
