What happens when the two best women's soccer players meet?

Last night, when Marta's Bay Area-based FC Gold Pride met Smith's Boston Breakers, a noisy crowd watched the two stars tangle -- and ultimately score all three of the match's goals. The Breakers' had advertised the match as a meeting between two of the world's best -- and they did not disappoint.

In her story, the Globe's Monique Walker quoted Breakers coach Tony DiCicco as saying of Marta: “Most of the game we did contain her, but she’s the type of player that gets a couple of chances and unfortunately she put them both away.’’
