Former New England Revolution soccer player Clint Dempsey found the back of the net in the 55th minute as the United States men's national team beat host Italy in a friendly, 1-0, in Genoa, Italy.

Dempsey's goal was only the fourth by an American against Italy. The US hadn't beaten Italy in its last 11 meetings.
