Colombian forward Jose “Pepe” Moreno could be on the way to the Revolution this week, but will not likely play in the season-opener at San Jose Saturday.

Moreno, acquired on loan from CD Once Caldas of Manizales, has scheduled an appointment to receive a work visa at the US embassy in Bogota Thursday, according to Revolution vice president of player personnel Michael Burns.

“We are trying to get the appointment moved up to tomorrow or Wednesday,” Burns said Monday. “If we can get it expedited and the visa approved, he will join us shortly thereafter.”

Moreno played one game for Once Caldas this season but missed the Revolution’s preseason, which concluded with a penalty kick loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy in the final of the Desert Diamond Classic in Tucson, Ariz., Saturday. The Revolution will depart for San Jose Thursday and do not expect Moreno to be available until the second game, a March 17 visit to Sporting Kansas City.
