FOXBOROUGH -- For the second straight week, a late goal sunk the Revolution.

Chris Pontius delivered the winner for D.C. Untied, beating Revolution defender Stephen McCarthy in the box, then firing a shot to the right side that New England keeper Matt Reis couldn’t reach, finishing off the Revolution 2-1.

United had gone five straight league games without beating the Revolution and they hadn’t won in Foxborough since 2007.

Joe Willis made more than his share of quality saves, including one in the 90th minute, blocking a last-ditch header from Saer Sene as the Revolution looked for the equalizer.

The Revs were without the suspended Shalrie Joseph, who hadn’t missed a minute of the Revs' first five games this season.

Still, they struck quickly, when Sene chased down a through ball from Lee Nguyen in the sixth minute, sending a long cross into the box for Jose Moreno, who booted it by Willis on his first touch.

It was the first MLS goal for Moreno, one of the Revolution’s prize preseason pickups, who made his first start.

United knotted it in the 19th minute though when one of the league’s best playmakers added to his highlight reel. Off a corner kick, Dwyane De Rosario tried biking the ball in, but it pinballed around the box until Maicon Santos got a a head on it, squeezing it past Revolution keeper Matt Reis.
