Azul defeats Boston Victory
CFC Azul was looking to avenge a recent loss and also gain the franchise's first victory, and accomplished both in a 6-0 shutout of the Boston Victory at West Haven High School in Connecticut.
The first win in Azul history came at the expense of a third Boston defeat in five games. Ryan Kinnie and Mario DiMiceli each scored twice, and the Victory failed to find the net for the fourth game in succession.
Three weeks ago the Victory had stunned Azul with two goals inside the final three minutes, but this time found themselves on the receiving end and were scrambling to contain the confident home team.
The Victory (1-3-1) return to the road next weekend at the Ottawa Fury on June 2, then face the Vermont Voltage at home at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy on June 9 (7 p.m.).
