New England Revolution coach Jay Heaps will miss the first game of the US Open Cup tonight following the death of his mother Jane.

She died Wednesday, May 23 after a long battle with congenital lung disease. She was 62.

Heaps, who is in his first year coaching the Revs, attended her funeral services over the Memorial Day weekend after coaching Saturday night's game against D.C. United. The team has given him extra time off in order to be with his family.

He'll return to the team on Thursday, when the full squad comes together, to prepare for this Saturday's game with the Chicago Fire. Tonight, Jay Miller will coach the team in the Open Cup.
