The Revolution announced that they've re-signed defender Chris Tierney on Monday to an undisclosed deal. The 27-year old Tierney, who is the club's current second-most tenured player behind goalkeeper Matt Reis, has played primarily at left back this season though he also plays left midfield.

“Chris is a very versatile player and gives us a lot of options,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a statement. “He is a great leader on and off the field, and has been one of our most consistent and productive players the last few seasons, so we’re very pleased he’s decided to sign a new contract to remain in New England.”

This season, Tierney has registered four assists in 18 appearances. He also has five goals in his six-season career.

Tierney is one of three native New Englanders on the Revolution roster.
