Athletes of the Year

Blake Ellis

Division 1: Braintree, Senior
A four-time All-Scholastic and two-time Gymnast of the Year, Ellis made the state meet his personal playground. He earned the all-around title for the second-consecutive year with a 51.7 and won every event but the still rings, finishing second.

Chris Brown

Burlington, Senior
An honor-roll student, Brown came back from a collapsed lung to have a tremendous season. At the states, his performances in the floor exercise (8.7) and high bar (6.6) earned him second (tied) and fourth place, respectively. He plans to study mechanical engineering in college.

Christopher Chu

Andover, Senior
Chu finished fifth in the all-around at states with an impressive score of 37.4. He was part of a Golden Warrior team that finished third in the meet with a 142.2. He is a high honors student and runs outdoor track.

Alex Foster

Burlington, Senior
Last year's still rings state champion improved his 7.8 score to 8.7 in winning the event this season. Foster also finished second in the parallel bars with a 7.6. He hopes to attend a college with gymnastics to continue his career.

Ryan Hynes

Braintree, Junior
Hynes was part of the powerhouse Braintree squad that ran away with the state meet with a 182.75. He has been an All-Scholastic in each of his three years and finished second at states with a 46.1. He placed in the top five in each of the six events.

Tim Lebbossiere

Braintree, Sophomore
Lebbossiere placed third all-around at states (43.9) and finished second on the vault (8.9) and high bar (8.1). Last year he finished second on the parallel bars. He is a year-round member of Junior Olympic Gymnastics.

Brian Manning

Andover, Freshman
This impressive freshman finished fourth in the all-around category at states with a score of 39.2. His best event was the vault, in which he placed third with an 8.8. He participates in Interstate Gymnastics and plans on attending college for sound engineerng.

Sam Hor

Lowell
Despite a 1-5 record, Hor garnered the respect of his peers to be voted Coach of the Year at the State Boy's Gymnastics Meet. He returned to the school he graduated from in 2002 to revitalize the program and boost participation.
