Athletes of the Year
Division 1: Andover, Senior, 55 meters
McConnell won his second consecutive New England 55 dash title with a time of 6.39, a hundredth of a second shy of his own meet record, to go undefeated in the event this year. His team's sixth-place 4x200 relay finish at Nike Nationals earned him All-America status.
Xaverian, Senior, Mile
A perennial force in the mile for Xaverian, Bleday took home Division 1 and All-State titles in the event for the second consecutive year. He also runs in Xaverian's 4x800 relay team, which won the Division 1 title. He'll attend Dartmouth in the fall.
Stoughton, Junior, 55 hurdles
Boursiquot was a hurdles workhorse this season, earning the New England title with a 7.48-second effort. He demonstrated consistency by winning the event at the State Coaches meet, the Division 2 meet, the All-State meet, and the Hockomock League Championship.
Lowell, Senior, Shot put
Davila earned a spot atop the shot put crop this season with a New England-winning throw of 58 feet 6 inches. He also nabbed the state and Division 1 titles. He placed sixth at Nike Nationals to earn All-America qualification.
Millis, Senior, High jump
Fairfield was consistently one of the best high jumpers in the nation this season. His jump of 6 feet 6.25 inches at the Nike Nationals earned him fourth place and an automatic All-America qualification. His jump of 6-7 was best at the All-States.
Hamilton-Wenham, Senior, Long J
MacDonald was the state champion in the long jump with a distance of 23 feet 3 inches, second all-time in Massachusetts indoor. He won the Division 4 title at 22-7. He also won the pentathlon, finished second at the New Englands, and 11th at the Nike Nationals.
Mansfield, Senior, 1,000 meters
The Hockomock League MVP was the runner-up at the Division 2 meet (2:32.12) and All-States(2:31.81). He was part of the Mansfield 4x800 relay that finished first in Division 2 and fourth at All-States, helping the Hornets to titles at both meets.
Lawrence, Senior, 300 meters
Nova put up a 35.83-second 300 meters at All-States to claim the title. He ran the event in 35.89 at New Englands to place fourth in the region. He helped Lawrence's 4x200 team take second at New Englands.
Arlington, Senior, 2-mile
Taylor took the Division 2 title with a time of 9:19.37 to set his personal best. He was the All-State runner-up after posting a 9:27.59 time. He won the mile in 4 minutes 23.58 seconds at the State Coaches Meet. He will attend UMass in the fall.
Central Catholic, Senior, 600 meters
Wilbar's time of 1 minute 21.96 seconds at All-States earned him Massachusetts Champion status and set a Central Catholic record. He is the event champ in the Merrimack Valley Conference and an all-conference selection.
New Bedford, Senior
Williams is this year's regional Long Jump champ after his PR jump of 22 feet 11.25 inches was tops at New Englands. He placed sixth at Nike Nationals to nab an automatic All-America bid, and he was runner-up to Jackson MacDonald at All-States.

Chris McConnell, Mark Vetere, Kerric Stevens, and Connor O'Neill (all seniors) swept Division 1, All-State, and New England titles this season, setting a Massachusetts record of 1 minute 30.04 seconds at All-States. McConnell, Vetere, and Stevens are veterans of a squad that accomplished the same feat last year. The quartet placed fourth at Nike Nationals with a time of 1:30.69.

Steve Gannon, Griffin Robertson, Ryan Petrella, and Kyle Kilduff upset Andover at All-States to take the title with a time of 3 minutes 23.18 seconds to help Mansfield win the team title. The quartet won the event at the Division 2 championships and was second to Andover at New Englands. Kilduff is the lone departing senior among the group.
4 x 800
After a runner-up finish to Mansfield at the Division 2 meet, the Gloucester 4x800 group of Andrew Ryan, Kyle Hurd, Gilbert Brown, and Kevin Hurd pulled out an All-State win with a run of 8 minutes 4.71 seconds. The foursome was first at the McIntyre Elite Relays with a 7:58.95 time. Ryan is the only senior in the squad.
coach of the year
As coach of Andover's boys and girls indoor track teams, Comeau led both teams to undefeated seasons in the Merrimack Valley Conference this year. His boys took home wins in the Division 1 State Relays and were runners-up in the All-State meet.
Kulis and the Clippers compiled a 6-1 record in the Atlantic Coast League this season, finishing second at the Division 2 state meet. This 30-year coaching veteran is a two-time Lowell Sun-Times and Cape Cod Times coach of the year.
McCartin, a Seekonk track alum, coached his boys to a 7-2 record this season. The boys were a half-point off the South Coast Conference title and were Division 4 runners-up by just 2 points. "The guys performed real well and I'm proud of what they accomplished," he said.
Welch led his team to the Patriot League title and runner-up finishes in the Division 3 state meet and State Relays. He has compiled a 20-13 record in four years at Randolph. "I'm very proud of my team. They inspire me everyday I work with them," he said. He ran track at Burdett College.
