Athletes of the Year
Division 2: Oliver Ames, Senior, Forward
The Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year helped lead the Tigers to a Division 2 state championship, averaging 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals per game. The all-time leading scorer at Oliver Ames also earned Hockomock League MVP honors. Battista will attend Bentley in the fall.
Division 1: Andover, Sophomore, Guard
The sophomore guard averaged a team-high 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season, helping lead the Golden Warriors to a Merrimack Valley championship and Division 1 state title. The Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament MVP also enjoys playing golf.
Division 3: Archbishop Williams, Senior, Center
The Michigan-bound 6-4 center averaged 20.3 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 5.26 blocks for the Bishops. The Catholic Central MVP helped Archbishop Williams to four league titles and two state championships during her career, in which she tallied more than 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Division 3: Watertown, Senior, Center
The Middlesex League MVP finished her high school career with 1,325 points and 1,252 rebounds. Obi-Tabot, who is a two-time league all-star in basketball, also earned all-star honors in track. The 6-foot center averaged 20.6 points and 14.1 rebounds this season and will attend Fairfield next fall.
Division 1: Central Catholic, Senior, Center
Boston College-bound Zenevitch broke the Central Catholic scoring record and finished her high school career with 1,518 points and 1,224 rebounds. The 6-3 center, who led the Raiders to a Division 1 state title last year, averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game this season.
Methuen, Senior, Forward
The 6-1 forward averaged 24.9 points and 2.1 blocks per game, finishing her high school career with 1,434 points. The McDonald's All-American nominee, who also plays volleyball and is a member of the National Honor Society, will head to Boston University in the fall.
Tabor, Senior, Forward
The Bryant-bound senior ended the year with a win in the New England Prep championship. Bell averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists per game and finished her career with more than 1,100 points. Bell was selected this year's NEPSAC MVP.
Brimmer & May, Senior, guard
Bourque is a career 1,000-point scorer who lit up opposing defenses to the tune of 25.3 points per game this year. Her IGC MVP award complements a MVP award she previously won in soccer. Bourque is an honor roll student who will attend Mary Washington.
Millis, Senior, Center
The Tri-Valley League MVP became the Mohawks' all-time leading scorer, finishing with 1,360 points. Breen tallied 409 points this year, while averaging 10 rebounds per game. The two-time All-Scholastic player helped lead Millis to a Division 4 state title last season.
Melrose, Senior, Forward
This two-year team captain was named a Middlesex League All-Star while helping the Red Raiders advance to the Division 2 EMass championship. Brickley, who is third in her class, is also a two-time All-Scholastic volleyball player and hopes to play volleyball in college
Mary Louise Dixon
Wellesley, Senior, Guard
The two-time Bay State League MVP averaged 18 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals per game while also notching her 1,000th career point. The Raiders captain was the starting point guard when Wellesley took home the Division 2 state title two years ago.
Westford, Senior, Forward
The Grey Ghosts captain averaged 17 points and 13 rebounds per game this season. Ewing is a three-time Dual County League all-star and has tallied more than 1,000 points in her high school career. The 5-10 forward will play at Stonehill next year.
Needham, Senior, Forward
The Bay State Conference co-Player of the Year scored her 1,000th point as a junior last season and finished her high school career with 1,481. The 6-foot forward also grabbed more than 800 career rebounds and will attend Holy Cross next year.
Andover, Junior, Guard
The Golden Warriors team captain averaged 16 points, 5.6 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 steals per game this season as Andover claimed a Division 1 state championship. The MVP of the Spartan Classic tallied her 1,000th career point this season.
New Mission, Senior, Forward
The Titans captain averaged a team-high 25.8 points and 3.2 assists per game this season, while scoring her 1,000th career point. Kelley, who was named the Boston City League Tournament MVP, helped New Mission claim its second consecutive league title.
Pentucket, Senior, Guard
McNamara finished her high school career as the second all-time leading scorer in Pentucket history with 1,106 points. The senior guard was deadly from beyond the arc this season, sinking 78 3-pointers. The co-Cape Ann League all-star helped lead the Sachems to the EMass Division 3 championship this year.
Fontbonne, Senior, Guard
Peters, who notched her 1,000th career point this season, averaged 19.5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4.5 assists for the Ducks. The 5-8 point guard was named the Winthrop Tournament MVP and a Somerville Classic all-star. Peters also plays for the Bay State Magic.
Portsmouth Abbey, Senior, Forward
Timmons has been unstoppable in her four years in Portsmouth Abbey's frontcourt. She averaged 18.8 points and 13 rebounds per game in winning her first MVP award and her team's third straight EIL championship. The school's all-time co-leader in scoring (1,398 points) will attend Trinity College.
Nobles, Senior, Guard
The three-time All-ISL point guard finished her career with 920 points and 384 steals, going 46-1 in league play with four ISL championships. Wingrove, also a three-time All-New England player, captained Nobles her senior season.
coach of the year
Billings led the 18-4 Spartans to a share of the Middlesex League title this season. The Wakefield High and Babson College graduate, who played soccer and basketball in school, has posted a 47-19 record during her three years at the helm.
Ferrante led the Red Raiders to a 20-4 season and a share of first place in the Middlesex League in his fourth year as head coach. The Salem State graduate helped Melrose win the Division 2 North title this season and gave credit to his core group of nine seniors.
LeVangie reached perfection this season, leading the Skippers to a 25-0 record and a Division 4 state title. The Merrimack College graduate, who has also coached varsity golf at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham, has posted a 423-135 record in his 28 years coaching basketball.
The Holy Cross graduate has posted a 147-118 career record during his 12 years coaching girls' basketball. Redding directed the Hornets to a 19-9 season and a Division 1 South Sectional title this year, stating that his team demonstrated unity and perseverance.
