After winning their second straight EAC title, Bishop Feehan was stopped short of repeating as Super Bowl champion by Mansfield. This fall the Shamrocks are looking for a return visit to Gillette, starting with "win[ing] the first game against Foxboro," said coach Tony Wood. One new look for Bp. Feehan is the move from Division 2 to Division 3.

Bishop Stang

  • Last year's record: 2-9
  • Strength: Offensive line.
  • Concerns: Lack of experience.
  • Coach: William Kavanaugh (3rd season, 8-13)
  • Playing surface: Grass

    • Devon Clements, Sophomore

    • Taylor Hickey, Senior
    • Peter Markarian, Junior
    • Michael Pinheiro, Sophomore
    • Tom Pratt, Senior
    • Jonathan Rogers, Senior
    • Christian Wessling, Junior

Bishop Stang is looking to intensify its play by perfecting the defense, specifically better tackling. Leadership will fall on wide receiver Harry Flynn to lead a junior team lacking in experience. Coach William Kavanaugh is focusing on enhancing his team's aggressiveness and is "looking to get better and to win 'em all," he said.

Coyle & Cassidy

  • Last year's record: 8-3
  • Strength: Offensive line.
  • Concerns: Replacing All-Scholastic quarterback Connor Henry.
  • Coach: Thomas Pileski (4th season, 16-17)
  • Playing surface: Grass
  • Schedule: Complete list of games

The team will rely on senior running back Brendan Scarafoni who brought home 15 touchdowns last season. The concern is the loss of Globe All-Scholastic quarterback Connor Henry. With the league picking up two more solid teams, Coyle & Cassidy is forced to enhance its program this year in hopes that "the young-ins will fill the defensive void as well as one of them filling the position of punting and being our kicker," said coach Tom Pileski. "I think that we will have the most difficult schedule we've had in all four years I've been here. We need to be very competitive and stay injury free," he said.

Martha's Vineyard

  • Last year's record: 11-2
  • Strength: Returning experience on the offensive line and the kicking game.
  • Concerns: Overall depth.
  • Coach: Donald Herman (23rd season, 188-74)
  • Playing surface: Grass
  • Schedule: Complete list of games

With the lowest turnout since the mid-90s, Martha's Vineyard is at a deficit this season with little experience and a new league, the Eastern Athletic Conference. "We are going to struggle. We need to stay healthy to be competitive," said coach Donald Herman. After losing 13 essential players last season, Martha's Vineyard will look to new quarterback Randall Jette and lineman Max Moreis (6-4, 298). The team's linebackers "will show a solid performance," said Herman with play from Brian Montambault, Andres Silva, and Thomas Tilton-Heylin, who has had a solid preseason.

Somerset

  • Last year's record: 5-5
  • Strength: Offensive line is stronger than in past.
  • Concerns: Depth.
  • Coach: Nick Freitas (1st season, 0-0)
  • Playing surface: Grass
  • Schedule: Complete list of games
  • showReturning: 7 lettermen
    • Alex Estrella, RB/LB, Junior, 5-9, 175
    • Kevin Haworth, OT, Senior, 6-0, 225
    • Adam LeDoux, QB, Junior, 5-11, 175
    • Ian Levesque, OT/DE, Junior, 6-5, 275
    • Tyler Lyne, G, Senior, 6-1, 205
    • Zach McGowan, WR/FB, Senior, 5-8, 190
    • Jaron Stear, RB/DB, Junior, 5-5, 160

This is the first year as head coach at Somerset for Nick Freitas. He has assembled a veteran staff and his main goal is to have his team "learn the game of football," he said. His lucky charm will be running back Seth DeMello who will hopefully lead the team to a strong start. "Hopefully the wins and losses will take care of themselves. Our strength comes from our seniors but our talent lies in our juniors' hands," said Freitas.
