Athletes of the Year

Alexa Sikalis

Division 1: Acton-Boxborough, Senior
Sikalis was the offensive spark for the Colonials in helping to lead A-B to an undefeated Division 1 state title this season. Along the way she earned her third Dual County League all-star honor while netting 35 goals. She will play at UMass-Amherst next fall.

Emily Sideris

Division 2: Watertown, Senior
The Middlesex League's MVP, Sideris scored 29 goals and added 22 assists as Watertown won the Division 2 state championship. Watertown finished 21-0-2, led by Sideris and All-Scholastic teammate Kelsey Prendergast. A high honor roll student, she's also captain of the ice hockey team and plays softball.

Keelin Bannon

Hopkinton, Senior, Midfield
The Tri-Valley League's co-MVP along with her sister Mallory, Keelin helped lead Hopkinton to three straight TVL titles. The senior midfielder is a three-time TVL All-Star and team captain. A member of the National Honor Society, she will continue her field hockey career at American University.

Mallory Bannon

Hopkinton, Senior
Hopkinton finished 19-1-2 this fall, led by the Tri-Valley League's co-MVPs, Mallory and Keelin Bannon. Mallory was the TVL's leading scorer and is a four-time TVL All-Star. A National Honor Society member, she will play field hockey at Cornell.

Bethany Barrar

Somerset, Senior
The leading scorer in the Eastern Athletic Conference tallied 23 goals and 18 assists while leading the Blue Raiders to a league championship. A three-time EAC all-star, Barrar potted 86 goals for her career.

Kelly Burke

Walpole, Senior
The anchor of the defense helped lead the Porkers to another Bay State and South Sectional title this season. A two-time league All-Star, she also runs track in the spring. The National Honor society student will attend Holy Cross.

Amelia Cohen

Manchester Essex, Senior
The Cape Ann Small Player of the Year finished with 22 goals and 11 assists as Manchester Essex reached the Division 2 North final. The tri-captain was named to the North squad of the Best of 60 Games. A National Honor Society member, she also plays tennis and lacrosse and will attend Penn.

Leddy Gallagher

Acton-Boxborough, Senior
Acton-Boxboro took on all comers with relative ease this season and Gallagher was a big reason the Colonials won the Dual County League, North Sectional, and Division 1 state titles. She netted six goals and six assists.

Tameka Geaslen

Andover, Senior
A virtual brick wall in net, Geaslen was the MVC Co-Player of the year for the Golden Warriors, allowing just five goals en route to a 19-1-1 season. She's a Best of 60 selection and a four-year starter with a career record of 66-7-10. She will play at Northeastern.

Christy Haughey

Dana Hall, Senior
Haughey captained Dana Hall to an EIL championship this season, earning the top offensive player honors for the second time as well as league MVP. She is class president and a member of the tennis and squash teams. She will attend Harvard.

Liz Malone

Walpole, Senior
Malone was a key reason the Porkers clinched Nay State League and North Sectional titles again this year, totaling 11 goals and 15 assists. The Bay State All-Star is also a National Honor Society student who will play at Columbia University.

Virgynia Muma

Falmouth, Senior, Forward
A repeat All-Scholastic selection for the Clippers, Muma led her team to an 11-3-4 regular season and a berth in the Division 1 South tournament. Muma was named to the Coaches Best of 60 game.

Nell O'Connor

Harwich, Senior
The most prolific scorer in the state this season with 42 goals and 18 assists, O'Connor captained Harwich to another South Shore League title and sectional final appearance. A two-time SSL All-Star, she is also a three-time league all-star in softball with more than 500 career strikeouts.

Maria Posa

Weston, Senior
One of the state's most prolific scorers, Posa tallied 20 goals and 17 assists for the Division 1 North finalists, giving her a career total of 61 goals and 55 assists. A four-year DCL All-Star and two-time All-Scholastic, the National Honor Society student will play for Stanford.

Kelsey Prendergast

Watertown, Senior, Midfield
You can't win a state championship without controlling the middle of the field and that's what Watertown did with senior co-captain Prendergast. The Red Raiders won the Division 2 state title, finishing the year unbeaten. The honor roll student was a two-time Middlesex League All-Star.

Sally Snickenberger

Wellesley, Senior
For the second straight year, Snickenberger was the top scorer in the always competitive Bay State League. This season her 18 goals and 19 assists was also good enough to earn the league MVP award. The three-time league All-Star plans to play field hockey at Vermont.

Brittany Souke

Sandwich, Senior
Souke helped lift the Blue Knights to an unbeaten regular season, an Atlantic Coast League title, and a South Sectional semifinal berth. A four-year starter and two-time league All-Star, she is also a member of the indoor track and lacrosse teams.

Caitlin Toomey

Governor's Academy, Senior, Midfield
Toomey led Governor's Academy to the New England Class B title and earned ISL MVP honors along the way. The senior midfielder was also All-ISL her junior year and was the team MVP. An honor roll student, she also plays ice hockey and lacrosse. She'll play field hockey at BU next fall.

Candace Waldie

North Andover,
A repeat All-Scholastic selection, Waldie scored 20 goals and added 14 assists to earn Cape Ann League Division 1 Player of the Year honors for the second straight year. Also a talented softball player, she was the CAL Player of the Year in that sport as well and will continue her softball career at UMass.

Kelsy Hammond-Beaton

Sandwich, , Division 1
The Blue Knights have qualified for the state tournament in each of her 11 seasons, while posting an overall record of 139-39-30. This year her unbeaten squad captured its fifth Atlantic Coast League title and made it to the semifinals of the Division 1 South regional. A graduate of Ursinus College, she also coaches lacrosse.

Eileen Donahue

Watertown, , Division 2
Watertown capped an undefeated season by winning the Division 2 state title with a 21-0-2 mark. Donahue has been at the helm for 24 years, compiling a staggering 460-30-44 mark. A graduate of Belmont High and Northeastern, Donahue points to her player's "many sacrifices" as a key to the team's success.
