Athletes of the Year
Division 2: Medfield, Senior, S/DS
As cocaptain, this setter and defensive specialist led the Warriors to their third consecutive Division 2 state championship. The Tri-Valley League All-Star is a two-time member of the Coaches All-State team. Donnelly is student council president and a member of the National Honor Society.
Division 1: New Bedford, Senior, OH/MH
The three-time Big Three All-Star had 1,401 career kills, setting a school record for kills in a season with 408. The National Honor Society member led her team to the Division 1 state title in '09 and she's a two-time All-Scholastic. Manley will attend Dartmouth College.
Division 3: Sacred Heart, Senior, MH
A member of the Coaches Division 3 All-State team, Nee was second in the state this fall with 422 kills. The Mayflower Division 1 Player of the Year led her team to its third consecutive league title and a final record of 17-4. The senior is also a two-time league all-star in softball.
Barnstable, Senior, L
The Old Colony League All-Star propelled her team to a 21-2 record and its 13th Division 1 state title. Her stats include 451 serves received and 296 digs. The National Honor Society member received the OCL Sportsmanship Award last year. A tennis All-Schoalstic as well, Bentivegna will attend Wake Forest University.
Case, Junior, OH
The South Coast All-Star and Division 3 All-State performer wrapped up her season with a stellar 91 percent serving average along with 206 kills and 168 digs. Case won the Division 3 state title last year and lost in the finals this fall. The team captain also plays basketball and runs track.
Fairhaven, Junior, MH
The South Coast Conference All-Star carried her team with 413 kills and 88 blocks to the Division 2 state final this season. The three-year starter was also a member of the Coaches All-State team and was the Boys and Girls Club All-Star Challenge MVP. She also plays basketball and tennis.
Barnstable, Junior, MH
A member of the Coaches Division 1 All-State team, Deluga had 301 kills, 81 service aces, and 22 blocks for the season as Barnstable wons its 13th state title. The two-time Old Colony League All-Star also plays softball and basketball. Away from school, the honor student plays for the Mass Patriots.
Medfield, Senior, MH/MB
The Division 2 Coaches Association All-State player led her team to the state title and a 25-0 record that included the school's 100th straight win. The Tri-Valley League All-Star has been a part of three state championships. She will attend Northeastern, where she will be on the rowing team.
Newton North, Senior, MH/OH
The Bay State All-Star ended the season with 235 kills and is member of the Division 1 All-State Team. Froehlich was awarded a silver key in this year's Globe Scholastic Art Awards. The senior captain also competes in cross-country skiing and outdoor track and field.
Bishop Feehan, Senior, OH
The outside hitter led her team to a 15-7 record and a spot in the Division 2 South sectional final. A two-time member of the Volleyball Coaches Association Division 2 All-State team, Hill is a member of the National Honor Society and she also plays basketball and runs track.
Notre Dame (Hingham), Senior, MH
The middle hitter led her team in kills (225) and blocks (50) and was named to the Coaches Division 1 All-State team. Lee was the team captain and is a four-time recipient of the Team Academic Excellence Award. Lee also plays softball is looking to major in biology.
Lincoln-Sudbury, Senior, S
The honor roll student was the Dual County League MVP after leading her team to the Division 1 state final. A member of the Coaches All-State team, she is also a Rensselaer Medalist, a National Merit semifinalist, and a Cum Laude Society Member.
New Bedford, Senior, L
The two-time Coaches Division 1 All-State team member is also a two-time Big Three All-Star. The senior set the school record for career digs (746) and the match record for digs (38) while leading the Whalers to the Division 1 South final. Thompson intends on joining the Navy after graduation.
North Attleborough, Junior, S/OH
The Red Rocketeers were a Division 1 South semifinalist behind Weymouth, who finished with 292 kills, 179 digs, and 280 assists. A member of the Coaches All-State team, she's also an honor roll student and plays lacrosse.
Andover, Senior, S/DS
Ye led the Golden Warriors to the Division 1 North title and a 25-1 record. The Merrimack Valley Conference Division 1 Player of the Year, finished the fall with 360 assists. She was named to the Coaches All-State team as well. Away from sports, she is a member of the Mass. Youth Wind Ensemble.
Melrose, Senior, OH
The three-year varsity starter was team captain this fall and led Melrose to its second straight Division 2 North title. A member of the Division 2 Coaches All-State team, she leaves with 234 kills this fall, 490 for her career. An honors student, Ziavras also plays softball.

The Fairhaven High graduate enjoyed a 20-5 season to take the Blue Devils to the school's first Division 2 state final appearance. Arsenault (164-61) won the school's first South Sectional title, beating Bishop Feehan. The UMass-Dartmouth graduate also played volleyball, basketball, and track.
The Cape Ann League/Northeast Conference Coach of the Year steered her girls to the Division 3 state semifinals and a final record of 19-5. "Our success was a team effort. It was never about an individual player." The St. Joseph's (ME) graduate was a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball and softball.
Turco drove his team to its 13th Division 1 state championship to improve his career record to 504-52 after 23 years of coaching. The 2008 AVCA National Coach of the Year is proud of his girls for "setting their goals high and for their willingness to embrace the team concept."
