Philips, the Globe's Coach of the Year, returning All-Scholastic fullback Andrew Maestre, along with quarterback Jonathan Marrero are all key ingredients to a winning recipe in the Boston South. The Bengals have had a firm grip on their respective league, making it to the last two Div. 4A Super Bowls. The realignment of divisions sent Brighton to Div. 5. Why is this important? Because Northeast will no longer be slamming the door on the Bengals as they've done for the past two consecutive bowl games, as they've moved up to Div. 4. With Northeast out the way, and Maestre and Marrero still on board, the Bengals should be the favorite to take the league and then bring home a Super Bowl title.

New uniforms, new lockers, new weightrooms ... these are just some of the changes that welcome returning members of the Dorchester Bears. Thanks to ESPN, Dorchester is in the process of receiving a sports makeover. On the field, Dorchester returns six starters including 6-6, 300-pound senior tackle Bryant Andrews. The running game should be strong with seniors Michail Belfiore and Kevin Gratts leading the way.

Latin Academy

The Dragons should be very competitive if they can avoid injuries, especially to the young offensive line. Last year's 5-5 mark can be improved upon if they can stay healthy. Coach Zizza challenges his players with at least 5-6 games against upper division teams, which means the team's overall record really isn't an indicator on how well this team can play within the tough Boston South.

O'Bryant

  • Last year's record: 6-4

    • Rony Prevot, DE/LB, Senior, 5-8, 140
    • Tim Seehily, OL/DL, Senior, 5-8, 275
    • Biruk Sirmolla, K, Junior, 5-4, 135
    • Mehki Williams, LB/RB, Sophomore, 5-8, 155

Injuries slowed a 6-2 start last season for the Tigers, who look to rebound and once again compete with Brighton for the Boston South crown. The team's participation at various football camps this offseason should bolster their skills and help bring the younger players up to speed. If coach Gadsen can get all his players on the same page and implement his running attack, look out.
