If senior running back Preston Cooper can improve his 2010 numbers (19 TDs, 1,150 yards in ten games), the Eagles will be in good shape. "BC High needs to reestablish the run, and with Preston it's a good way to do so," Bartlett said. Junior fullback Luke Catarius, who stands at 6 feet 1 inch and 215 pounds, solidifies the backfield and will clear the lane for Cooper. Senior quarterback Bartley Regan will lead the offense and has two big targets in senior Gordon McLeod (6-1) and junior Lincoln Collins (6-4). The Eagles roster features a handful of skill players, but Bartlett said it is critical that the offensive line step up and open some holes. The defense is led by Temple-bound defensive tackle Jameson McShea and Catarius, who led the team in tackles from the middle linebacker position.

Senior captain and quarterback A.J. Doyle is going into his third season as the leader of the offense and looks to help CM battle the Catholic Conference. "He's a big, strong, rugged kid," Campea said. "He runs and throws extremely well, and he's a good leader." Doyle will look to senior captain Armani Reeves at wide receiver, while senior captain Donovan Henry will carry the ball out of the backfield to complete the CM offense. Campea said he will face a lot of challenges on defense, but hopes to get stronger with senior captain Cam Williams (MLB/TE), senior tackle Tyler Loring and senior Jon Schneider. CM also has to fill the kicking spot after losing Tom Byrne.

Smith replaces Bob Almeida as head coach after serving for a year as defensive coordinator, and will certainly have his hands full coaching in the ultra-competitive Catholic Conference. Juniors Anthony Finoccharo and Axel Kabeya will anchor the backfield, and Smith said he is expecting big production from the duo. "They work extremely well together," Smith said. "They continuously root for each other and run aggressively." Senior quarterback Raeshawn Kennedy started the last two games of 2010 and will call the shots for the Lancers. On defense, Smith said junior linebacker Joe Penta will serve as the defensive leader, while seniors Scott Layton and Anthony Libby anchor the line.

Senior quarterback Tom Gaudet returns to the Eagles with a healthy throwing shoulder, which bothered him for most of the 2010 season. "He has a great grasp on our offense," O'Leary said. "He's one of our senior leaders that led us to the Super Bowl last year. Even though he was injured, he played hard and with him healthy, we expect great things." The Eagles are young, but O'Leary said they have some experience in big games and they won't be awestruck when they walk in to play teams like Everett or Brockton. O'Leary also expects junior defensive backs Lucas Bavaro and Alex Moore to contribute.

    • Kevin Tainten, LT/DT, Senior, 6-0, 250
    • John Warner, TE, Senior, 6-7, 230

Senior quarterback Chris Calvanese looks to carry the Hawks back to the postseason after leading all Catholic Conference quarterbacks with 14 touchdown passes. Stevenson looks to have a different mix at the running back position, and said seniors Ryan Farrell and Mike Warren will anchor the wide receiver positions. Five starters return to the offensive line, while four return to the defensive line, which bodes well for the Hawks.
