Chelsea

  • Last year's record: 3-7
  • Strength: Team attitude, senior leadership.
  • Concerns: Lack of depth on both sides of the ball.
  • Coach: Michael Stellato (13th season, 80-66)
  • Playing surface: Artificial turf

  • showReturning: 11 lettermen
    • Eric Bernier, Senior
    • Kevin DeJesus, DT, Senior, 6-0
    • Steven Dwyer, Junior
    • Manny Ferrer, Senior
    • Rony Gomez, TE/DE, Senior, 6-2, 190

    • Whitney Santil, DB, Senior, 5-6, 160
    • Peter Vo, Senior

After losing a good amount to graduation, including EMass All-Star Troy Crossley, the Red Devils and coach Stellato are a bit undermanned. With that said, this year looks to be a year to focus learning more than racking up wins. Still, with great coaching and some atheltic players returing, look for Chelsea to remain relevent and competitive in the Commonwealth Small.

Greater Lowell

  • Last year's record: 0-10
  • Strength: Enthusiasm and team unity.
  • Concerns: Offensive fire power.
  • Coach: Kevin Callagy (1st season, 0-0)
  • Playing surface: Grass
  • Schedule: Complete list of games

Kevin Callagy is concerned about a number of things, but on the top of the list is his offense. A preseason full of stressing fundamentals and an improved front five, may be all Greater Lowell needs to cut down on mistakes. After going winless in 2010 the Gryphons are looking to redeem themselves and move up the ranks in the Commonwealth Small by buying into the process of the game, keeping it simple, and controlling only what's in front of you. A hopeful group believes that this new enthusiasm can translate into wins. The drop into Comm. Small from the large division should help as well.

Mystic Valley

  • Last year's record: 6-5
  • Strength: Experience of returning starters and QB position, enthusiasm and effort, confidence in coaches.
  • Concerns: Depth at all positons.
  • Coach: Rollie Hinckley (20th season, 77-110-1)
  • Playing surface: Artificial turf
  • Schedule: Complete list of games
  • showReturning: 8 lettermen
    • Klysman Afonso, SE/DB, Senior, 5-10, 160
    • Anro Ali, RB/LB, 5-10, 160
    • Patrick Applebee, OL/DL, Senior, 6-0, 220
    • Alex Baires, OL/DL, Junior, 6-0, 220
    • Tyler Bonaccorsi, OL/LB, Senior, 5-7, 155
    • Rob DiSantis, QB/DB, Junior, 5-10, 150
    • Chris Mui, RB/LB, Senior, 5-7, 155
    • Zak Stour, OL/DL, Senior, 6-1, 250

The Eagles, following historical precedent, should win more than six games this year as the team has progressively gotten better over the past four years, winning more games each season. Last year the team put together the first winning season since the program's inception seven years ago. And it would be an understatement to say coach Hinckley has done a fine job with this year's graduating class of players too. Those same kids who started the push four years ago are back with enthusiasm and ready for their last rodeo. It will be interesting to see just how much these starters have learned over the past four years. If up for the task, watch out Commonwealth Small.

North Shore

  • Last year's record: 10-2 (Vocation Bowl Champs)
  • Strength: Work ethic, team speed.
  • Concerns: Lack of depth and inexperience.
  • Coach: Paul Worth (16th season, 90-74)
  • Playing surface: Grass
  • Schedule: Complete list of games
  • showReturning: 15 lettermen
    • Jake Almon, TE/LB, Junior, 6-0, 185
    • Timothy Anderson, RB/LB, Junior, 5-10, 185
    • Matthew Arsenault, OL/DE, Junior, 6-0, 215
    • Denzel Birth, OL/DL, Junior, 5-8, 230
    • Nicholas Brooks, RB/CB, Senior, 5-8, 155
    • Eric Comeau, OL/DE, Junior, 6-1, 195
    • Ryan Fanning, TE/LB, Senior, 6-0, 195
    • Bryan Jackson, TE/DE, Junior, 6-0, 190
    • Justin Lee, OL/DE, Senior, 6-2, 265
    • Drew Lufkin, DT/OL, Junior, 6-4, 275
    • Dilynn Northcott, TE/LB, Senior, 6-2, 190
    • Jasmany Sanchez, RB/DB, Junior, 6-2, 185
    • Tyler Skane, RB/LB, Junior, 5-10, 185
    • Chris Sudak, RB/DB, Junior, 5-8, 165
    • Ronald Williams, C/DT, Junior, 5-11, 220

After a successful 2010 season in which the Bulldogs won a Vocational Bowl for the first time, rebuilding will now commence at North Shore. The team's offensive backfield has been completly depleted from last season due to graduation. That list includes EMass All-Stars Jesse Wilkins(more than 2,000 yards rushing), quarterback Pat Wood, and big tight end Jordan Smith. With the teams three most skilled players at their positions gone it would be reasonable to see a small drop this season. Still, with the move of Commonwealth Small champion Northeast to the Large, North Shore will be in contention for the league title.
