Kirk Minihane, whose acerbic but self-effacing style has given a jolt to WEEI's Dennis and Callahan morning drive program, has signed a multi-year contract to remain with the program.

The new deal, considered a formality over the past couple of weeks, was announced on Friday morning's Dennis and Callahan program.

The show, with longtime co-hosts John Dennis and Gerry Callahan, is expected to remain intact, provided both come to terms on a new contract.

Minihane, who also writes a column for the WEEI.com website and is expected to have a greater presence online, joined D&C in February in an undefined third-man-in role.

The show's ratings have seen steady improvement over the last several months, finishing second to 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich program in the fall ratings period with a 9.0 share.
