The Sports Hub finished first overall in the Boston radio market for the fourth straight three-month ratings period, according to Arbitron data released Tuesday.
The CBS Radio-owned Sports Hub (98.5) claimed the top spot among all stations in the men 25-54 demo during the summer — covering the period from June 20-Sept. 11 — with an 8.0 share. WEEI (93.7) was tied for fifth overall with WXKS (5.7).
In morning drive (6-10 a.m), The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Rich” program won the time slot again for the fifth straight three-month period, checking in with a 10.8 share. WEEI’s “Dennis and Callahan” climbed to second with a 7.2, a big leap up from 6.0 and fifth in the spring. T&R had a 13.4 in the spring, when the Bruins made their run to the Stanley Cup Finals.
During midday (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), The Sports Hub’s “Gresh and Zo” was fourth (6.7), trailing WZLX, WKLB, and WBOS programming. WEEI’s “Mut and Merloni” was seventh (3.8.)
In afternoon drive (2-6 p.m.), “Felger and Massarotti” on the Sports Hub finished atop the time slot with a 10.9 share, their fifth straight book at No. 1. WEEI’s “Salk and Holley” was fifth (5.4), the same share it had in the spring.
From 6-7 p.m., 98.5’s “The Baseball Reporters” hosted by Tony Massarotti finished with a 9.0. WEEI programming in the same period — usually a lead-in to the Red Sox broadcast — earned a 5.5, good for seventh.
In the evenings (7-midnight), WEEI won the day part with a 9.8 share. That includes its Red Sox game broadcasts and “The Planet Mikey Show.” The Sports Hub’s “Adam Jones Show” was second with a 6.8.
WEEI received a nice bump in the summer from the Red Sox’ unexpectedly excellent season. Their nighttime share rose from 7.6 in June to 11.2 in August and then steadied at 10.4 in September. Arbitron measures September as the period from Aug. 15-Sept. 11.
