Gisele Bündchen appears to have gotten over Brazil’s devastating 7-1 loss to Germany and subsequent elimination from the World Cup.
The Brazilian supermodel was all smiles in a glamorous Instagram photo of herself posing with the World Cup trophy.
Bündchen posted the photo Saturday morning with the following message:
“It’s a great honor to represent my country and the people of Brazil in tomorrow’s celebration. It’s beautiful to see how sport has the power to bring the world together. I’m so grateful to be part of this moment. Thank you all Brazilians who have welcomed the world with all their joy and loving spirit.’’
Bündchen is set to present the World Cup trophy to the winner of Sunday’s championship match between Argentina and Germany. According to FIFA, she will escort the trophy at Estadio Maracana in Rio de Janeiro alongside Carles Puyo, a star player who helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup.
Normally the winner of the World Cup is presented the trophy by the host country’s head of state, The Boston Globe reported. But Brazil’s president has come under fire (and faced intense protests) for spending $11 billion on the tournament when millions of Brazilians are poor.
Bündchen, however, will likely be a much welcomed presence as the football-loving nation closes out the World Cup.
